Top 5 Marvel Superheroes

That’s right movie fans. Marvel studios highly anticipated The Avengers, is coming out this FRIDAY!!! It’s been almost four years in the making and it’s finally here. To say I’m excited is an understatement. Every trailer for this film just gets better and better. I daresay I’m more excited to see this than I am Batman: The Dark Knight Rises. I know…that’s crazy talk.  But it’s the truth. Anyways, while I love the heroes that will appear in The Avengers, they are not the ones that I’d include in my own “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes,” team. So this weeks Top 5 will feature the five marvel superheroes that I would put on my own personal Avengers squad. (Jeez, I am such a dork!)

Number 5

Peter Parker/Spiderman

Spiderman is different than any other superhero; not only because of his powers, but also because of his personality.
We’ll start with his powers. Spiderman doesn’t fly. He swings like a modern day Tarzan, through the urban jungle of New York (which is really the only city in the world where he could use that power. If he lived in De Moines, Spiderman would be nothing more than a gymnastic instructor at the YMCA.)
He’s strong, but not SUPER strong. He’s wiry, and sometimes even a little feminine in his posture.
But all these things are what make Spiderman great. He’s different than the stereotypical hero. This is more evident in his personality. Spiderman never really wanted to be a hero. He wanted to be a Mexican wrestler like Nacho Libre and make a little money. And let’s face it, that made him more relatable. Because in “real life” you know that would be the first thing any of us would think:
“I have super powers. Sweet. How can I use it to make money!”
            We ARE Americans after all.
Spiderman is constantly questioning himself and his abilities. He’s not a man. He’s a kid. And like all kids he’s just trying to figure life out. His powers complicate those insecurities, rather than simplify them. Spiderman is the closest thing there is to a “relatable” superhero. The other kids make fun of him at school, he’s a nerd, he’s an orphan, he’s weak emotionally, and he’s just trying to make sense out of life. Our hearts really go out to him.
So, even though he would be utterly useless in any other city than New York, he’s still badass enough to earn the Number 5 spot on my list.
But I want to know your THOUGHTS…
